WHAT THEY DO
Caventou are a design-led solar technology start-up. They combine renewable energy with aesthetics, to make intelligent self-powering everyday objects. What started as a prototype for Current Table and Current Window, Caventou are now an award-winning entrepreneurial team who are using design to tackle global problems.

Samira says “Why can’t everyday objects be part of the solution in creating a more sustainable world? We all know our current paradigm needs to change, fossil fuels are running out. Yet we need energy to power daily life. At the RCA, Marjan’s award-winning work began a narrative that showed how, when combined with aesthetics, sustainability can be imaginative and playful too. The awards haven’t stopped coming in. Together with Peter we are bringing great products to market that change expectations of what sustainability is and can be.”

HOW WILL THEY CHANGE THE WORLD
With making renewable more accessible for end users and desirable too, the products they develop are directly influencing how we interact with everyday objects. Caventou are looking at how to integrate our digital demands into objects, reducing our basic need on carbon-heavy energy sources, which will have a great impact on future energy requirements.

FUTURE BUSINESS OBJECTIVES

• Be smart with finances whilst product and manufacturing processes are under development
• Accurately manage incomings and outgoings to ensure resources are used effectively
• Raise finance to support pre-revenue phase of operations
• Release product for public sale in September
